Caterer’s appetite for change

-

HAVING only launched her business this year, a Clydebank caterer is hoping to keep food on the table for the surrounding area for years to come.

Colette Lord, 33, launched The Buffet Lady catering business earlier this year.

Based in Clydebank the mother of two says the cancellation of large parties and celebrations are having the biggest impact on her young company.

She said: “Our families have all sacrificed so much during lockdown and we have all missed out on so many birthdays, communions, celebrations and parties. Lockdown has given us a chance to adapt the business and create new menus for our customers.

“Since people have been unable to have large parties or gatherings, we’ve not been able to provide our usual large buffet service.

“We have been creating lots of new products and buffet combinations to suit smaller gatherings during lockdown – our picnic platters and afternoon teas have been a fantastic success.

“We have embraced the challenge of adapting the business to give our customers something to look forward to when they order from us during these tough times.”

The Buffet Lady was born from Colette’s passion for “creating fantastic food” which the team produce for customers in their purpose designed Buffet Room at home.

Colette hopes her relatively new business will attract local customers as they continue to cater food on a smaller scale.

She said: “Supporting us now means that our family business can survive this pandemic, and that we will still be standing strong at the other end to provide buffets for post lockdown celebrations.”

Operating on a smaller scale is not the ideal scenario for the new company, though it has made it easier to maintain strict hygiene measures and physical distancing with PPE for the firm.

To launch The Buffet Lady, Colette admits a lot of work over the last year went into organising and preparing for the launch of the business.

The Buffet Lady cater for all types of events including birthday and family celebrations, weddings, christenings, communions, office parties and team lunches, at home gatherings and funerals.

“We have something to suit all events which allows our customers to relax and get ready for their party or event with the peace of mind that the food is taken care of.

“We love to see guests enjoying our food as soon as they hear those magic words; ‘The buffet is now open!’”

While based in Clydebank, The Buffet Lady also caters to Glasgow and its surrounding areas.
