Please do not forget the elderly in homes
LINDA and Ellen’s story about the care home visit ban is truly heartbreaking and there are thousands just like it ( Glasgow Times, Tuesday).
Already far too many older people have lost their lives during this pandemic without family and friends being there for comfort and to say goodbye.
We all must remember that whilst young people and the exam results are important, they have their whole lives ahead of them and time to put thing right.
On the other hand the residents of care homes have already made a vital contribution to society and they deserve to be recognised and not forgotten.
They sadly have little or no time left to resolve this cruel situation.
I fear that if action is not taken immediately there will be thousands of families who will pay the price with their mental health. Please do not forget the elderly. Ann McGuire

I WAS sad to hear about the fatal road crash on Nitshill Road last weekend.
The road has become so dangerous over the past few years with reckless drivers and, as a local resident, you can hear cars zooming up the 30- 40mph road at 50mph or more. It’s about time that proper speed measures such as camera were put on this busy road before another family is affected.

I’M devastated to see that Buddies, right, like many other Glasgow charities, is in a fight for survival following the withdrawal of funding support from the city council (‘ Fight to save charity Buddies after shock Glasgow City Council funding decision, Tuesday).
This is going to be a disaster for the families and communities these good causes support, with many groups having built up their services over the decades.
Perhaps the answer is to provide long- term funding to established charities, doing such good work around the city to support existing services, rather than forcing them to operate on a yearbyyear or project- by- project basis. Ellen Hamilton Dalmarnock
I CANNOT fathom Nicola Sturgeon’s decision regarding Glasgow’s lockdown.
Surely crowded pubs are far worse than a few family members in your home. We were getting a sense of normality, now it seems we have taken a leap backwards. She ought to have a word with the ones in the supermarket not wearing their masks!
