Rangers talk in ‘ regular dialogue’ over fan return
RANGERS will remain in ‘ regular dialogue’ with the Scottish Government over a safe return of supporters to Ibrox after revealing they have sold out season tickets this term.
It is the third consecutive campaign where the maximum number of season books have been snapped up by fans, with all 46,500 briefs and corporate hospitality packages now sold.
It will be many months before a capacity crowd is present to see Steven Gerrard’s side in action, but Light Blues Managing Director Stewart Robertson is delighted at the backing of fans once again this term.
He said: “I have been continually astonished by the passion and loyalty that our supporters show our club. Time and again, our supporters surpass expectations, may that be for retail purchases, MyGers or now, season tickets.
“In the midst of the uncertainty surrounding Covid- 19, selling out season tickets at Ibrox is even more special. As we approach our 150th year, Rangers fans demonstrate their unrivalled loyalty to our club once again.”
Rangers have played three home games – against St Mirren, St Johnstone and Kilmarnock – in the Premiership so far this term and Gerrard’s side will host Dundee United after the international break aiming to continue their unbeaten start to the title race.
The meeting with United was pencilled in as a potential test event by the Government and Joint Response Group as the Hampden authorities look to see fans return to top- flight grounds in the coming weeks.
The restrictions that were imposed on Glasgow, West Dunbartonshire and East Renfrewshire this week are a major setback for those plans but Rangers remain eager to see fans back inside Ibrox at the earliest opportunity when the national health situation allows.
