Government must own up to errors on Covid- 19

PEOPLE in glass houses should not throw stones ( RD, Letters, October 17). Since this pandemic began we have had to endure a party political broadcast daily by the First Minister.

To say that the Westminster government was elected by lies and deceit is outrageous when you consider that the Holyrood government has repeatedly lied and committed acts of reckless endangerment towards the people of Scotland since coming to power 14 years ago.

The First Minister continues to be economical with the truth declining to answer questions surrounding the Salmond fiasco, while also refusing to admit they got opening schools and universities wrong, resulting in a massive rise in Covid cases.

The government still refuses to close schools citing mental health of children – rubbish, the schools are, unpaid babysitters.

Universities did not require to be opened as it is online classes, but what happens when you have a group of young people all together? PARTY. Hence a massive rise in Covid, and then they travel home spreading the virus. Brilliant idea by our Scottish experts, but the SNP will blame Westminster again for their incompetence.

WHILE we struggle with Covid, let’s spare a thought for those people who remain homeless and who rely on face- to- face interactions for money.

If they are safe so is the general population.

Had governments built these people homes, the public wouldn’t have to face huge hotel bills during lockdown who knows how long into the future.

IN response to the Welsh government’s proposal to stop people travelling to the country from England because of Covid- 19, Tory toff Jacob Rees- Mogg ( right) said in the Commons that this was unconstitutional. So the “constitution” to him is more important than controlling the spread of the disease and preventing deaths! Totally abhorrent! l HAVE read letter after letter about the way the Scottish government has worked in the best way to help all the people – and still they get bad- mouthed.

So please, all the ones who think they are so clever, why are they not applying for Ms Sturgeon’s job? I know it’s all right to shout from the airlines, but there is an old saying that to understand this problem you must walk in her shoes, so please keep your mouth shut as you have no clever input to help your neighbour.
