Revealed: Here’s how much the UK has loaned to struggling Glasgow businesses

Happening all over Europe. Governments are borrowing huge amounts of money to cover these costs. This money is not a gift – it has to be paid back.

Andy Simpson

Well, the government did close down our businesses. If they want them to survive and provide jobs then they must support them financially.

Unfortunately, the whole fiasco has become a political football and the losers are everyone eventually.

John Galt

Thank you and best wishes to our Westminster Chancellor Rishi Sunak ( above). Totally outwith the Scottish Government’s abilities – they don’t even fully distribute the vast sums the Chancellor has gifted them ( they’ve got a wee independence fund biscuit tin hidden away). Well, considering the UK government paid the banks £ 500 billion in 2008 and have so far spent just over £ 200bn during the pandemic ... I# m pretty sure they could have done a lot more.

John Smith

Scottish taxpayers get some of their money back? Headline news.
