TRAVEL BAN AS CITY SET FOR LEVEL THREE RULES
GLASGOW has officially been placed under Level Thr e e o f t he new lockdown rules to begin on Monday. It means with travel restrictions now in place people are not to travel outside the city except for essential exemptions.
Restrictions on no household meetings and limits outdoor and on hospitality will remain, although restaurants can open but not sell alcohol.
Even with surrounding areas at the same level, the restrictions apply at a council level so people should not travel outside Glasgow.
The city is in the second- highest of five levels with every one of the 32 councils into one of the levels.
It will be in level three along with Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire, East and West Dunbartonshire, North, East and South Ayrshire, Inverclyde, Stirling, Falkirk, Clackmannanshire, Edinburgh, Midlothian and East, and West Lothian and Dundee.
North and South Lanarkshire are in Level Three but will be kept under review on a daily basis.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said on travel restrictions: “I need to be very blunt. I know travel restrictions are unwelcome and can be controversial, but they are an absolutely essential part of any regional approach to tackling Covid.
“They are, unfortunately, a price we pay for more targeted restrictions. So let me be clear what we are asking of people at this stage.
“If you live in a Level Three council area or in future a Level Four area, please do not travel outside the council area you live in – unless you require to do so for essential reasons.”
The other areas and their levels are:
Level Zero: None.
Level One: Highland, Moray, Wester n Isles, Orkney and Shetland.
Level Two: Aberdeenshire, Ab e rde en, F i fe , Bo rde r s , Dumfries and Galloway, Argyll and Bute, Perth and Kinross, and Angus.
Level Four: None.
The rules will take effect at 6am on Monday and the next update will be Tuesday, November 10.

Ms Sturgeon said: “We’re still seeing a rising number of hospitalisations new cases and sadly deaths. Europe is firmly in the grip of a second wave of Covid.”
There were 37 new deaths registered. Total death toll is now 2791 with 1128 new positive cases of coronavirus, including 416 in the Greater Glasgow health board area.
There were 1152 people in hospital, an increase of 35 and 86 in intensive care, an increase of one. of the
