Racist thug fired gun at feet of pal and told him to dance

- BY COURT REPORTER

ATHUG fired an air gun at the feet of his black friend and ordered him to dance while hurling rac i st abuse.

Joe Watson turned the weapon on 24 year- old Mark Mulima, pulled the trigger and shouted: “Dance n*****, dance.”

Watson, also 24, had earlier fired the gun at another friend Jordan Donnelly, 23, at the flat in Glasgow’s Wyndford in August 2019.

A judge heard how the thug attacked the pair again days later - including hitting Mr Donnelly with an axe.

Watson is now behind bars after he pleaded guilty to the crimes at the High Court in Glasgow.

He will learn his fate next month. The trio had been at the home of Watson’s girlfriend.

Watson then suddenly out a loaded air pistol.

Prosecutor Mark McGuire told the court: “Watson placed it against the head of Mr Donnelly who thought the gun was a real pistol and was terrified he was going to be shot.

“He pulled the trigger and Mr Donnelly felt a rush of air against the side of his head.

“Shortly afterwards, Watson aimed the gun towards the brought feet of Mr Mulima, who is black.

“He ordered him to dance before firing the loaded airgun into the floor near his feet.

It was also during that time Watson made the racial slur.

Days later the trio were back at the flat when Watson then struck Mr Donnelly with an axe on the head and hand.

He also went onto strike him on the face with a knife, which luckily only left a large scrape.

Watson later punched Mr Mulina in the face amid a disagreement over a mobile phone.

The thug was eventually arrested after the victims went to police.

Watson was soon held and the air pistol along with the axe were also seized.

Watson pleaded guilty yesterday to five charges.

This included the racially aggravated assault of Mr Mulima.

There were three assaults on Mr Donnelly with one to his severe injury, permanent disfigurement and to the danger of his life.

The final crime was an assault to Mr Mulima’s injury.

Co- accused James Heron, 48, pled guilty to a number of drugs charges after a haul of valium pills were found.

He was admonished having spent the equivalent of months on remand.
