Adam saves point from the spot

-

CHARLIE ADAM rescued a point for Dundee with a late penalty in a 3- 3 draw with Alloa, although the visitors were left aggrieved they were denied the chance to claim all the spoils from the spot.

Adam converted from 12 yards in the 84th minute after Jon Robertson was adjudged to have handled the former Scotland midfielder’s shot.

TV pictures show they should have had another spot kick just moments later when Declan McDaid fell to the ground under a challenge from Lee Connelly.

To add injury to insult, referee Alan Muir booked the Dark Blues playmaker for simulation.

“We should have had another penalty at the end,” said Dundee manager James McPake. “We never deserved to win that game although we could have got that penalty at the end, which was a stonewall penalty.

“The frustrating thing is that he books my player for it. You watch it back and to have booked my player for it is a frustration for me.”

Wasps striker Robert Thomson scored the only goal in an uninspiring opening period before five goals were traded in a rip- roaring second half

McDaid brought the visitors, without Graham Dorrans after the midfielder tested positive for Covid- 19, level in the 47th minute after planting a low shot in the corner of the net.

Trouten then scored twice in quick succession to move Peter Grant’s side within touching distance of their first win of the season.

But Dundee rallied to claim a point. Cammy Kerr reduced their arrears in the 76th minute when the rebound from Adam’s free- kick, which struck the post, hit him and rolled in. Then came the penalty.
