‘WHO COULD DO THIS TO MUM?’: FAMILY’S AGONY AFTER ATTACK Devastated brother wants ‘justice’ after assault

A DRUG dealer was snared with almost 10,000 street Valium tablets in his hall cupboard.

Stephen McCue, 32, was arrested at his flat in Glasgow’s Springburn in January 2019.

Officers raided the property on Galloway Street and recovered the 19,918 tablets from poly bags and a jacket inside a hall cupboard.

Prosecutor Hannah Terrance told Glasgow Sheriff Court the wholesale value of the drugs was £2370.

The maximum street value would be £8000.

Miss Terrance also called for a confiscation order on a designer watch belonging to McCue.

Sentencing was deferred until next month for background reports by Sheriff Stuart Reid who continued McCue’s bail meantime.

THUGS battered a vulnerable mother black and blue outside her Milton home after she picked up a takeaway. Andrena Wright was coming home from collecting a Chinese takeaway in Balmore Road when she was surprised by attackers who left her “lying in her own blood and spilled fried rice”.

The 40-year-old takes medication for schizophrenia and had – prior to Sunday – been staying with her mother.

Her devastated brother Johnnie said the family had been rocked by the attack and “wanted to get to the bottom of it”.

He added: “We want to get my sister the justice she deserves.

“She’s not a harm to anyone, she’s such an affable person. She’s a lot more likeable than I am.

“She’d speak to anyone – whether you were Bill Gates or the poorest person in the world.”

After she had recovered enough from the attack, Andrena took to Facebook to livestream her condition, prompting friends and family to come to the house and alert the police.

Johnnie said that officers had “kicked the door down” after receiving the call that his sister had been attacked and that there was blood “everywhere”.

She was taken to hospital for severe injuries to her face and her family say she has now been taken to a care home.

They fear she may have sustained kidney damage from being kicked in the stomach after doctors noticed blood in her urine.

A very “happy-go-lucky” woman, Johnnie said he can’t imagine her fighting back against her attackers.

He said: “She isn’t confrontational at all, so when she was being attacked, we all know she wouldn’t have fought back. Which makes it so much harder.”

Andrena had been living alone at her home in Haywood Street and was taken by surprise by her attackers, said her brother.

Her daughter heard the news from Spain, where she had been staying until yesterday.

Daughter Megan Wright was in Spain on holiday at the time of the attack and saw Andrena’s shocking condition from her mother’s Facebook live video.
