Frustration over NHS ops being cancelled

- EK Crookston Jill Ferguson Via Facebook

ONCE again I’ve heard of family and friends having hospital operations cancelled and re- scheduled to the spring of 2021 – the problem being there is nothing they can do about it, they just have to accept it.

The annoying thing that really grates me is that I was driving in Glasgow and saw a private hospital.

Its car park was bulging at the seams to the extent that the overspill of cars was parked nose to tail on the pavement and is on many occasions the same on the opposite side of the road – this tells you the amount of private operations and procedures that are now taking place.

The private operations and procedures that consultants carry out at this private hospital and other private hospitals in Glasgow are the same consultants that are employed by the NHS, I believe.

No wonder our NHS waiting lists for operations are so long, with this instead of these consultants carrying out NHS operations and putting these patients out of their misery, and of course lining their pockets.

It’s the same old story – “Money Counts”, and unfortunately it will never change.

Lastly, if you continue up the Crookston Road you will pass by what used to be Howford Primary School which has been empty since 2017 due to fire damage.

The larger portion of this land site is in the process of being sold to BMI for private health care, and so it continues.

I LOVE the amazing photos you publish in your Camera Club feature every day, especially the beautiful image of the heron in Monday’s edition.

HOPEFULLY it will be tasteful and will fit into the surroundings, not stick out like a sore thumb ( Here’s how you can have your say on Glasgow’s ‘ tallest building’ development, Tuesday).

However, 30 storeys does seems a tad excessive – quality, not quantity!

All too often buildings are designed and thrown up with little thought of their appearance, or the way they will age or become outdated in style. And yes... the “cladding”. Please no inappropriate cladding as the numbers of blocks built with cladding which is not fire retardant has been a tragedy of epic proportions, where Grenfell Tower was concerned.
