Tory MSP hopeful hits out at SNP by doing 18 pull- ups

- BY HAMISH MORRISON

AGLASGOW Tory MSP hopeful has criticised the SNP for “taking responsibi l i t y for nothing” – as he attempted to shame nationalists by doing 18 pull- ups.

Twitter users delighted in the stunt which saw 56- yearold Craig Ross perform the impressive feat on camera.

The video has since been deleted but that has not stopped social media users re- uploading it to poke fun at the South Side candidate.

He wrote: “I’m nearly 56. Here’s me doing 18 pull- ups. I’ll guarantee you that none of the SNP’s candidates for Holyrood to do anything 2021 will be able similar.

“How do I know? Because their lives are full of excuses. Everything is someone else’s fault. They take responsibility for nothing.”

Christina Cannon, an SNP councillor and a list candidate for Glasgow, admitted she “probably” could not achieve 18 pull- ups but said: “I used to be a gymnast so I’m sure I could do something equally as impressive”.

A policy and campaigns worker for the Scottish Greens mocked Mr Ross on Twitter, saying: “New main character of unseat the Secretary, this year’s in the race the day guy’.”

Another independence supporter, based in Edinburgh, said: “A Tory doing pull- ups to own the nats, I’m already having a good feeling about 2021.”

Mr Ross was not available for interview but Russell Findlay, the head of communications for the Scottish Conservatives and a candidate for Paisley in the upcoming election, said: “This was a light- hearted video making a point about the SNP’s tired strategy of blaming the UK Government for everything in order to distract from its litany of failures during 13 years in charge of health, education, justice and other fully devolved matters.”
