Bail breach thug threatened to murder ex-lover

- BY CONNOR GORDON

ATHUG who repeatedly breached his bail conditions threatened to kill his former lover. Brian Cooper, 34, turned on Andrea Green at her home in Carntyne between October 14 and 31 last year.

Cooper called his on-off partner of 20 years derogatory names and damaged her property when he was refused entry.

The dad-of-three pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to engaging in a course of behaviour that was the abuse of a partner or ex-partner.

He also admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, assaulting a police officer and breaching his bail conditions.

Cooper had been granted bail on August 7 last year and ordered not to contact Ms Green.

The court heard Ms Green was called a “cow” over the phone and was contacted 40 times before he attended her home on October 14.

Cooper banged on the window loudly from outside as Ms Green and her friends were inside.

He then stated: “I know youse are in there, open the f***ing door, my tag’s f***ed anyway.”

A 999 call was made as Cooper refused to leave despite repeatedly being asked.

Cooper continued to make threats to assault a “terrified” Ms Green and kicked the front door.

Officers later attended and heard Cooper shout: “You are a f***ing grass” before he was arrested.

Prosecutor Claire Wallace said: “Ms Green was shaken and distressed and she had to take medication to calm herself down.”

The hearing was told Cooper attended the property just over two weeks later asking for money. Ms Green called 999 to report the incident and stated she had given him £20. Cooper was arrested shortly after at his home.

He visited Ms Green a further time and woke her up by kicking and banging the glass door.

Cooper, while clutching a knife, said: “I’m going to kill you, my lawyer will always get me out.”

A 999 call was made and Ms Green locked herself in the property until officers arrived.

Cooper continued to smash garden property and kicked the front porch area.

He was later traced and arrested by police before trying to bite constable Katherine Potts on the body.

The hearing was told of a final incident where a drunk Cooper was heard shouting, swearing and banging outside Ms Green’s property on October 31. He was arrested for the matter.

Sentence was deferred for background reports until next month by Sheriff Ian Fleming who continued Cooper’s remand in custody meantime.
