Our PM can’t influence who gets the Covid-19 jab

- Marion McCafferty Via Facebook Name and address supplied

IWAS sorry to hear the frustrating story of Mr Watson in Thursday’s Glasgow Times. This seems unfair in the extreme, however, the comparison between this gentleman and the Prime Ministry’s dad is not realistic as the Prime Minister’s dad from memory lives in Somerset, not Scotland.

Given that healthcare is devolved, the Prime Minister can not influence who gets the jab and who doesn’t.

The responsibility for this lies in Holyrood, not the Houses of Parliament. I dare say Mr Johnson (senior) may have benefited indirectly from family connections, however the shortcomings affecting Mr Watson should be addressed to the First Minister.

She’s responsible for the ministers in her Cabinet who in turn are responsible for the running and performance of their departments.

After all, she swears she has no other priorities.

SERIOUSLY how many rounds of the country can a virus do (Thousands of new coronavirus cases detected in Scotland as Health Secretary announces latest numbers, Glasgow Times online)?

That’s more than a year and still it’s spreading apparently?

IF you’re happy to pay for the sledges, then enjoy it (‘£20? That’s snow fair’: Shop advertising sledges causes uproar on Facebook, Glasgow Times online).

PROCESSED food is cheaper than quality food. You don’t see ‘Buy one, get one free’ offers on apples or potatoes do you (Glasgow Tory MSP candidate slammed for ‘deplorable’ comments on food bank users, Glasgow Times online)?

I used to think that the Tories don’t live in the real world but I’ve come to realise that they just like looking down on us from their ivory towers. Towers that were built with our money.

AN hour, really (Ambulance service ‘sorry’ after pensioner and pregnant woman using soup kitchen wait over an hour for 999 help, Friday)?

A couple of weeks ago my 80-year-old mother, who was in extreme pain with Parkinson’s, was left 13 hours without an ambulance – yes, 13 hours.

ANOTHER day, and yet more shoppers ignoring face covering rules.

These people must have the ultimate brass neck.

They don’t care about any rules and just swagger around the supermarket while everyone else wears a face mask.

Even children are wearing them, yet these selfish people continue to ignore the rules.

I look forward to seeing more of them being refused access to stores. They are an absolute disgrace and disgust me.

I THINK Scottish football bosses should call a halt to the league this season.

There’s no reason to put so many people at risk just for games of football.

I know it will put clubs at risk but the whole economy is affected just now by the pandemic and there should be no hesitation in making a decision to stop the top two league in our country.

However, I suppose money talks, so we’ll see what happens.
