Group aiding young women also recruiting

- BY JACK HAUGH

IF you have a passion for helping others and fancy a career change, Poppyscotland might have just the job for you. The charity is on the hunt for an independent living advisor to join its St Enoch’s team.

The role would see you provide person-centred advice, support and advocacy for members of the armed forces who are living with, or caring for someone with, long-term illness or disability.

The charity writes: “Our work centres around seven key areas: tailored support and funding, advice, employment, mobility, respite, housing and mental health. While much of this work is delivered directly, collaboration with other specialist organisations for the benefit of Scotland’s Armed Forces community is at the heart of Poppyscotland’s approach.

“The role is home-based and normally involves regular travel across the region as outlined in the job description.

“Currently the work is being undertaken remotely with the use of technology rather than face-to-face.

“You may also have to work outside office hours as necessary.”

For a full-time salary of £23,000, Poppyscotland is looking for someone with experience of working in an independent living advisory capacity and experience of working with people with disabilities.

Across the city, SAY Women Semi-Supported Accommodation in Shettleston is also on the lookout for someone with care at the heart of everything they do.

The shelter, which provides support and accommodation for eight young women who have experienced homelessness and sexual abuse, wants an accommodation project worker to join its team.
