‘We still believe. We just need to keep fighting’

-

THE Celtic players still believe they can win the Premiership despite manager Neil Lennon admitting it may be beyond them, according to captain Scott Brown.

Brown says that no matter the points gap that exists between the champions and Rangers at the top of the division, the Celtic players must try to win every match and see if they can claw their way beack into contention.

“We still have that belief [we can win the league] and we still have belief in each other as well,” Brown said.

“We will just take it one step at a time and make sure that we win our games in hand starting with a victory on Wednesday and then push on from there, because we owe it to every one of the fans, everyone who has been supporting us throughout the years.

“We need to make sure we keep fighting no matter how long it takes.”

Brown says that the players are all hoping that their under-fire manager Lennon remains at the club, but admits that they are in the dark as to what the future holds.

“We’re in the same situation as the manager but I’m sure that he’ll let us know as soon as he finds out,” he said.

“I’m sure he will be here and we all want him to be here and that’s the main thing. He’s a manager who loves this club and he’s very passionate about it as well.”

Meanwhile, the Celtic skipper is wary of the challenge posed by David Martindale’s in-form Livingston side tonight, particularly at a venue where they have come unstuck before.

“They played really well at Celtic Park against us,” he said. “They are well organised and they are on a great run.

“We need to make sure we change our style, or whatever it is, to make sure we win.

“The last five or six times we’ve been at Livingston we have struggled. They are very direct and physical and we need to make sure we match that all over the park.”
