Domestic abuser tried to escape through window to avoid police officers

-

A THUG who ignored two court orders and assaulted his ex-lover faces a lengthy jail term.

Stephen Keating turned on the woman at her flat in Glasgow’s Pollokshields on October 15, last year. Keating punched the terrified victim on the face and bit her on the arm.

The brute then tried to avoid police by jumping out the living room window.

Keating pleaded guilty yesterday at Glasgow Sheriff Court to the assault and the non-harassment order breaches.

The court heard Keating was subjected to a criminal and civil order not to contact the woman who he was a relationship with for six years.

He attended the victim’s home in the South Side area at 6am and was initially allowed entry.

The pair had an argument close to midnight later that day and Keating acted aggressively towards the woman.

Prosecutor Hannah Sweeney said: “He struck her to the face with a closed fist. The accused pushed her into the sofa face down and pressed his knee down on her back. He pulled both of her arms behind her back and bit her to the left arm.”

The woman was able to find her phone and dialled 999.

Officers later clocked Keating fleeing from the window before he was arrested following a chase.

He said: “Ah s***, I shouldn’t have hit her, I’m sorry I hurt her.”

It was revealed Keating, a dad, has previous convictions for domestic and weapons offences.

Sentence was deferred until next month for background reports by Sheriff Andrew Cubie who continued Keating’s remand in custody meantime.
