Woman broke teacher’s nose during gig at O2

- BY CONNOR GORDON

AWOMAN broke a teacher’s nose after headbutting her at a rap concert. Mhairi Walls, 39, attacked Marion Campbell, 54, at Glasgow’s O2 Academy on November 30, 2018.

The pair had separately gone to watch Scottish hip-hop and rap group Young Fathers.

A drunk Walls was asked by Miss Campbell to stop bumping into her before being struck.

The victim needed surgery after her nose was broken in two places.

First-offender Walls pleaded guilty yesterday at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting Miss Campbell to her severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

The court heard Miss Campbell was at the concert with friends when she was approached by Walls.

She repeatedly collided with Miss Campbell and her friends while dancing to music. Miss Campbell said: “Excuse me, do you mind moving out the way?”

Walls replied: “Aye, I f***ing do.” Prosecutor Graham Macdonald added: “Walls then stepped forward and headbutted her, making contact with the left side of Miss Campbell’s face.

“This injured her nose and her cheek bone.”

Walls, of Stirling, was later arrested and claimed the victim had been “annoying” her.

Fiscal Mr Macdonald said: “Miss Campbell’s nose was found to be broken in two places and she underwent reconstructive surgery.

“Although there is no scar, her nose is displaced and squints off to the left.”

Sentence was deferred until next month for background reports by Sheriff Paul Crozier who granted Walls bail meantime.

The sheriff said: “You pled guilty to a very serious charge.”

Excuse me, do you mind moving out the way?
