It shows most attended at least three quarters of their meetings.

The highest attendance rate was recorded by Margaret Morgan, SNP councillor for Linn who was at 96% of council meetings she was required at, which was 54 out of 56.

Others were at 90% or above were Richard Bell, SNP, Govan, at 94%, Josephine Docherty, SNP, Newlands/ Auldburn, 92%, Elaine McSporran, SNP, Cardonald and Malcolm Cunning, Labour, Linn at 90%.

None in the five wards were below 65%. Only two were under the 70% mark.

Mr Cahill said: It’s quite clear to me, my staff haven’t necessarily followed contract standing orders and financial regulations.

“However, they have done what they’ve done with the best of intentions.”

Council leader Tony

Buchanan said: “I think we’ve acknowledged there are some failures from the point of view of our understanding of NEC3 contracts, and breaches in terms of our council contract standing orders. The other aspect, in terms of the betterment, I think we’d all welcome. I don’t doubt we would have approved them.”
