Driver smashed car into police vehicle then fled

-

A HUNT has been launched to trace a driver who deliberately smashed their car into the side of a police van.

Alarming footage on social media shows the culprit reversing from a garage on Possil Road in Woodside and crashing directly into the police vehicle.

The driver then quickly fled from the scene.

Nobody has been injured as a result of the incident on Tuesday afternoon.

Police inquiries into the smash are ongoing.

A spokesman said: “At 4.50pm on Tuesday, February 16, officers were in the Possil Road area as part of inquiries to trace a vehicle.

“A police van was damaged after it was driven into by the suspect vehicle several times. No-one was injured.

“The driver fled the scene and inquiries are ongoing to trace the individual and the vehicle.”

TRIBUTES have poured in for an Easterhouse B&M employee after she sadly died from coronavirus.

The “one of a kind” Mandy Davren, who was 43, has left behind a nine-yearold child.

Devastated colleagues at the Auchinlea store have described Mandy as the “kindest and most caring woman”.

One person said: “Mandy you were a diamond, we loved having laughs and banter together.”

Another added: “Thank you for all the chats when I felt like giving up… thank you for sharing toast with me because hated burning my toast and thank you for being the kindest, funniest, most loving woman in the world for everyone who crossed your path.”

Since her passing, friends have launched a fundraiser on JustGiving to help Mandy’s family through a “devastating time”.
