No jail for perv found with pictures of kids

-

A PERVERT found with indecent images of children as young as one on his phone has avoided jail.

Shaun Anderson, 40, was caught with the images at his then home in Springburn.

The 41-year-old, now of Paisley, was held after a relative found chat logs while changing a password.

Anderson committed the crimes between January and March 2018. He pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to sending written sexual communication to a person he believed to be a child.

Anderson also admitted attempting to meet a child and possession of indecent images of children.

Sheriff Joan Kerr put Anderson under supervision and on the sex offenders register for three years.

The court heard a relative found Anderson’s account on social media chat app Kik.

Prosecutor John Bedford said: “The purposes were to seek young teenage partners.”

Anderson was later found to have an indecent profile picture which could have been seen by the general public.

Two decoys posing as 14 and 15-year-old girls also chatted with Anderson at this time.

Anderson asked the 15-year-old decoy if she was “comfortable with the age gap”. He then arranged to meet her at Glasgow Central Station. Anderson asked the younger decoy if she wanted sex.

Police raided Anderson’s property and seized his phone when he made admissions to having images on it.

A total of 13 images were found with the age ranges of the children being between one and 14-years-old.
