Rangers determined as ever to win Scottish Cup, insists Morelos

- Joshua Barrie

ALFREDO MORELOS insists that Rangers have the same ‘desire and belief’ to win the Scottish Cup, having already been crowned Premiership champions.

Morelos has been integral to his side during their title run in and his form earned him March’s Player of the Month award. The Colombian scored a late winner at Livingston to seal a 1-0 win, notched a second against St Mirren the day before the title was confirmed and finally got his goal against Celtic in the 1-1 draw at Parkhead.

Speaking to Rangers TV, the forward said: “I am very happy with my form, everything that has been happening football-wise on the pitch and everything that has bene happening with that has happened with the club this month.”

When asked what goal was his favourite from March, he predictably replied with a smile: “The Celtic goal.

“First, we became champions and now I have the player of the month award too. So, I am really happy and hope to continue to contribute more to the team.

“I think the whole team has been focused on winning the league since the beginning. We played our hearts out in every league game and we also had a good Europa League campaign.”

The Colombian also praised the team-mates who played a key role in his individual award.

“I owe everything to them,” he continued. “They are the key to everything I do the pitch and in training. Their support for me is unconditional.”

Rangers have five remaining matches in the Scottish Premiership and while an unbeaten season would be well celebrated, all attentions will now turn to the Scottish Cup.

“We are very happy; we still have a few games to play and we will have the same motivation and desire to win them even though we are already champions,” Morelos added.
