Player ratings SCOTLAND

- Mark Hendry

Craig Gordon

First game back in a Scotland jersey in some time and made a terrific save in the first half. Couple of heart-in-mouth moments in the second 45, but overall did himself no harm. Good save from a Faroe header with five minutes left.

Andy Robertson

Has been criticised at times in the dark blue of Scotland but did well. Provided a good delivery for Ryan Fraser’s strike and didn’t put a foot wrong.

Grant Hanley

Hardly troubled by the opposition frontline but, when called upon, did his duty. Generally solid in a back-three.

Kieran Tierney

Produced another fine display as a marauding centre-half. Three assists for a player who is fast becoming one of Scotland’s top stars. Always seemed to know exactly where John McGinn was headed inside the box.

Callum McGregor

Played the deeper position for Scotland and did the basics. Quietly went about his business and allowed other team-mates to grab the headlines.

John McGinn

Two excellent goals from the midfield and worked tirelessly as he does so often for club and country. Enjoys playing further forward and produced the goods again.

Kenny McLean

Like McGregor his job was to keep the action ticking over and he did exactly that. Had a hand in the first goal with some clever forward play and a good pass.

Scott McTominay

7 Showed some really nice touches and ability to break up play is impressive. Loves a taking ball forward and definitely looks better in the midfield than in defence.

Ryan Fraser

Smallest player on the park but did well to rise for his headed goal. Had a decent opportunity early on to open the scoring, too, but thwarted. Always a danger down the flank.

Lyndon Dykes

His hold-up play really is terrific. Not your lethal, prolific striker but his ability to bring others into play was evident and looks to be forming a decent partnership with Che Adams already.

Che Adams

7 Terrific strike to net his first goal for his country. Easy to see Premier League quality and, if Dykes had been on the same wavelength at times, there could have been more goals.

SUBSTITUTES Kevin Nisbet

3 (for Dykes, 68) Didn’t get involved much after coming on but will be pleased to finally make his Scotland bow. Needlessly booked.

Oli McBurnie

(for Adams, 73) Saw a lot of the ball when he came on but didn’t offer any attacking threat.

John Fleck

(for McGregor, 73) Scotland had already accepted their margin of victory when Fleck came on so didn’t get forward as much as he’d have liked.

Scott McKenna

(for Tierney, 79) Played mostly side-ways passes to wind down the clock, but imagine that was the instructions.

Liam Palmer

(for Fraser, 79) Game was well won by the time he replaced goal scorer Fraser. 7
