Kudela to miss Arsenal trip after Bale clash

- DARREN JOHNSTONE

ONDREJ KUDELA looks set to miss Slavia Prague’s Europa League clash with Arsenal in London – meaning Police Scotland will not get the chance to question him over allegations he racially abused Glen Kamara.

The defender sat out his club’s goalless clash at Brno in the Czech top-flight on Sunday due to a bruised nose and fever after being caught by Gareth Bale’s flailing arm in the Czech Republic’s 1-0 defeat to Wales in Cardiff last Tuesday.

And Slavia manager Jindrich Trpisovsky admits the 34-yearold could sit out Thursday’s quarter-final away leg at the Emirates Stadium.

After the player allegedly called Kamara a “monkey” during last month’s Europa League clash at Ibrox, the Rangers midfielder’s lawyer claimed that Kudela could be questioned by UK cops when he travelled to London for the Arsenal match. However, Trpisovsky has given an update on the player’s fitness.

He said: “Ondrej was free on Thursday, he went to light training on Friday, but then he was no longer well. He has a nose injury plus fever. We’ll see how it goes. It will probably be addressed with antibiotics and that would mean that he will not be available on Thursday.”

Kudela had performed a last minute u-turn by travelling to Wales for the Czech’s World Cup qualifier. His lawyer had initially claimed that the 34-year-old would not fly to the UK with the national team due to concern for his safety.

Kudela denies directing racist abuse at Finland international Kamara, while Slavia have also asked Police Scotland to investigate claims that the Gers midfielder assaulted their player in the tunnel after the March 18 clash.
