Stars join forces for uni campaign

MARTIN Compston and Midge Ure will team up to raise cash for students who have been forced into hard times by the pandemic.

The Line of Duty star, who once played the Ultravox frontman in the comedydram­a Urban Myths, will appear in conversati­on with the Scottish singer in a fundraisin­g event for Glasgow Caledonian University’s Common Good Campaign.

When Martin met Midge will see the stars discuss their careers to date and Martin’s portrayal of Midge in 2018.

The university’s fund provides cash and in-kind support for struggling students, who are increasing­ly worried about their incomes and future prospects, as a result of the pandemic and lockdowns.

and has seen an increase in demand due to the financial impact of Covid for students, often employed in industries battered by lockdowns.

Martin said: “Midge is just such a likeable guy it’ll be great to chat to him about how our careers have crossed paths, and even better that by doing so we can help to make a difference to students who are struggling right now.”

Midge said: “It’s been a tough time for students. Many have lost jobs, and for many more thinking about what the future holds can feel overwhelmi­ng at this time. So I am delighted to join forces with Martin to help raise awareness for the Campaign that is providing financial assistance as well as practical support.”

The event will be held on Monday, April 26 from 6pm. Tickets are pay-what-youcan or a suggested donation of £20.
