Nose agony for woman after ex attacked her

- BY CONNOR GORDON

A THUG who attacked his ex-lover and left her with a permanently misshapen nose walked free from court yesterday.

Scott Joyce, 38, assaulted the woman outside their flat in Drumchapel on June 7, last year.

The gas engineer repeatedly punched her on the head and body before throwing her against a wall.

Joyce – who already had two previous domestic convictions against the woman – pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to the assault to her severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

Joyce, of Milngavie, was tagged for six months keeping him indoors between 7pm and 7am and put under supervision for 12 months.

The court heard the pair were together for 20 years but had split in December 2019.

She was at a neighbour’s flat in the early hours of the morning on the day of the attack. She heard banging

coming from her flat went to investigate.

Prosecutor Hannah Terrance said: “Joyce grabbed her by the neck and the top she was wearing and threw her around.

“Joyce then pushed her and punched her on the face.

“She shouted ‘phone the police’ in order to get help.

“Joyce let her go and she told him that she was going to get him arrested for assault.

“Joyce punched her to her face and neck then threw and

her against a wall before he kicked her on the head and body.

“The woman screamed for help and she claimed the attack lasted five minutes.”

She was taken to hospital meantime for treatment for a wound to the back of her head.

Miss Terrance added: “She had a possible nose fracture but didn’t remain in hospital for further treatment.

“She said as a result of the incident, her nose has been left misshapen.”
