Thug viciously assaulted lover over flat’s condition

-

A THUG viciously assaulted his lover after a row about her messing up his flat.

Lionel Vukomba, 32, turned on the woman at the property in Maryhill on December 9, 2019.

Vukomba choked her and repeatedly punched her after he came back from a night out and found his flat in a mess.

The terrified victim was later discovered by police officers outside the flat in her underwear.

Vukomba pleaded guilty yesterday at Glasgow Sheriff Court to the assault to the woman’s injury.

The court heard the pair were at separate nights out with the woman returning home first and going to bed.

Prosecutor John Bedford said: “Vukomba returned about 3.30am and was unhappy about the general condition of his flat.

“The flat was in a general untidy state with numerous boxes sitting around.

“He woke the woman up and an argument started between them.”

Vukomba grabbed her by the ankles while she was lying in bed.

Mr Bedford said that Vukomba became angry and grabbed her by the neck and later the hair causing some of her braids to fall out. She pleaded with him to stop the assault, but he carried on punching her on the head and body.

A 999 call was made by the woman who screamed down the phone for officers to attend.

Mr Bedford said: “Vukomba placed his hands around her neck and compressed it which restricted her breathing.

“There was a short struggle which caused the woman to fall down the stairs.

“Police attended and found the woman in the street wearing only her underwear.

“The weather conditions that morning were cold.”

Vukomba was arrested and told officers that the woman had come at him first.

She was taken to hospital meantime suffering from minor face and chest injuries.

Lawyer Ross Jenkins, defending, will make his plea in mitigation at the sentencing in June.

Sheriff Paul Crozier called for background reports and continued Vukomba’s bail.
