F YOU’RE in the mood for an Indian takeaway, you really have to fulfill that craving.

Otherwise, it’ll stick with you and you’ll be cursed by your thoughts of creamy curries, fluffy naan bread and crispy pakora for days-on-end.

So, after getting a healthy craving for an Indian takeout, we decided to ask around for the best spots in the South Side.

We were inundated with recommendations to try out The Indian on Skirving Street in Shawlands. Truthfully, after putting it to the test, we’re not surprised why.

It was hard to choose from a menu bursting full of options from fish, lamb, chicken, tandoori and vegetarian.

After much consideration, we were in the mood for seafood and opted for a king prawn karahi curry and a malai fish curry with pilau rice. For sides, we added garlic naan, Peshwari naan and vegetable pakora to our bag.

The delivery was prompt, coming around 20 minutes after

Cost: £40.46

Now, coming from Oban, I am a wee bit of a seafood snob but I can safely say that the haddock in the mali curry was outstanding. The meat was marinated in spices and quite clearly fresh as it melted away in every flaky mouthful.

After trying the fish, the prawns had competition... they didn’t disappoint. The karahi curry was packed with a generous amount of crispy, succulent and fresh king prawns which were marinated in a tomato-based sauce.

As for the sides, the pakora came crispy with delicious dipping sauce and the naan breads were absolutely huge.

The portions were very generous, with enough leftovers for the following day’s lunch.

All in, the order came to £40.46 – a decent price for satisfaction.

It was hard to fault The Indian on Skirving Street, they deserve the five stars.
