FROM a Star Trek deep dive with fellow Trekkies to a domestic decluttering masterclass presented by a doctor – learning a new skill or honing a hobby is a fantastic feeling.

In recent weeks, we’ve announced almost 40 eightweek evening courses as one of our most diverse programmes to date, with face-to-face teaching for some leisure classes resuming after a one-year pause due to the pandemic.

Beyond just learning a new skill or honing a hobby, our ‘Love 2 Learn’ classes offer a great opportunity to connect with like-minded people and develop lasting friendships.

We’re proud to attract learners of all ages including some students who’ve been in attendance for over 12 years and a few who are regular participants well into their 80s.

Our part-time offering caters to all sectors and interests, fostering a sense of community and supporting employability.

Keep clean and carry on

Anyone whose house is in need of an urgent spring clean can hear from three professional declutterers, including Dr Zemirah Moffat who will share tips on ‘Calming Chaos in your Home & Life’, examining relationships with possessions and how make the most of an annual clear-out.

Become an expert in comics or sci-fi

Sci-fi fans can put their Trekkie knowledge to the test with a ‘Star Trek: The Evolution’ class, while comic enthusiasts will be able to learn about Justice League or Batman in two courses about the famous DC characters.

Care for your car

Get to know how your car works and learn how to perform simple tasks on our ‘Car Maintenance’ course. It’s designed for inexperienced and regular DIY enthusiasts, and provides the skills to safely carry out routine car maintenance and repairs.

Monsters etc

Another unusual offering is ‘A History of Monsters’, examining the cultural, historical and theological significance of mythical creations such as vampires, zombies and dragons.

Do It Yourself

The hands-on ‘DIY at home’ course covers joinery, plumbing and tiling, allowing you to take care of all those home improvements you’ve been putting off for the past year.

Bouquet wonderland

Our Cardonald Campus is running a ‘Flower Arranging’ course, encouraging students to learn traditional and modern floristry techniques. Whether creating a bouquet for a special someone, or simply giving your living room a splash of colour - this course will give you some floral flair.

Get a little bit more fashionable

We also offer a suite of dressmaking courses – for beginners through to more advanced technicians.

Whether you’re turning against ‘fast fashion’ or just fancy trying your hand at becoming a designer, this evening course can give you the skills you need to tailor your post-lockdown frocks. For more information visit www. glasgowclyde.ac.uk/lovetolearn
