Celtic fan hurled sectarian abuse at police

A CELTIC fan hurled sectarian abuse at police after last season’s Scottish Cup final.

Lewis Anderson hurled the abuse at the officers protecting the Celtic bus after it left Hampden Park on December 20 last year.

The 19-year-old’s tirade included branding officers “f ***** g pigs” and “dirty orange b ****** s”. He was part of a crowd of 300 Celtic fans cheering the team who were leaving the stadium.

Anderson pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner aggravated by religious prejudice.

Prosecutor Jess McGowan said: “Anderson was seen to shout in an aggressive manner towards police who were there to contain the crowd. He shouted ‘who the f*** you looking at, I will f ***** g take you three c***s, take your stuff off and I will take the three of you’.

“He then chanted to police ‘dirty orange b ****** s, f*** the huns, get the Brits out’.”

Anderson was arrested at his home the following day. He also admitted to having a knife in Glasgow Green and stealing a sandwich from Tesco.

Richard Allan, defending, said: “He was part of a group outside and was singled out but that doesn’t take away that he was candid and regretful about his actions.”

Sheriff Mary Shields banned him from all UK football matches for six months and ordered him to do 150 hours of unpaid work. Anderson, of Glasgow city centre, was also tagged for three months keeping him indoors between 7pm and 7am.
