Shock at number of votes cast for the SNP

- Tony Raeburn Via email

IT never fails to amaze me why voters in Scotland voted SNP after the list of failures that they have been responsible for. Only reason I can see, is that there was very little choice of other parties. The numbers of votes does not mean that all these people want independence, they have just chosen the best of a bad bunch.

Failures of SNP include, two new hospitals that were unable to open, two rusting ferries lying at Port Glasgow, elderly relatives being exposed to Covid in care homes and dying in large numbers, court cases questioning honesty of the party, NHS and education underfunded, public services cut to breaking point, just to name a few.

I love Scotland, but I am not blind or stupid enough to think that we could survive on our own financially or otherwise.

I see very little evidence of any information of how SNP think that being independent will make us a better nation. Cloud cuckoo land comes to mind.

I AM afraid this is only the start (McVitie’s workers `crying’ after `devastating’ closure announcement, Wednesday).

After the joys of the pandemic restrictions easing, something sinister is brewing. Big companies will either close (to avoid paying back government loans) or shed jobs in their thousands. It`s coming and better to be prepared. Joe Black

THE owners of the factory won’t listen and have made the decision about it closing and there’s nothing anyone can say or do to stop it.

Hopefully the government or council put measures into place to help the employees find alternative employment or retraining but cynically I doubt it.

I WAS a regular watcher of River City but sadly fell away..

I’m now glad Joyce Falconer is returning and I’ll start watching again as I really like her character.

I also can’t wait for Joyce to return to pantomime as the baddie!
