Vaccine passport checks to take place at Celtic Park
CELTIC have confirmed that supporters will need to be doubly-vaccinated against coronavirus in order to attend their next Europa League fixture.
The Premiership runners-up take on Hungarian outfit Ferencvaros – who dumped Neil Lennon’s side out of the Champions League qualifiers last season – at the unusual kick-off time of 3.30pm on Tuesday 19 October due to the upcoming COP26 climate conference taking place in Glasgow.
Celtic have provided an update to fans following the Scottish Government legislation change.
The new law – which had been delayed for three weeks – means that supporters must provide proof of their double-jabbed status at all stadiums across Scotland where the crowd is greater than 10,000.
A spokesperson for the club said: “As Celtic prepare for UEFA Europa League Matchday three on Tuesday, October 19, supporters attending the match versus Ferencvarosi TC at Celtic Park are advised that updated Government legislation is now in place.
“This new legislation means that any supporter attending matches at Celtic Park (and other stadia with crowds of 10,000 or more) should be fully vaccinated and be prepared to provide visual proof of this to gain entry to the stadium, unless exempt.
“Celtic FC are obliged to follow Scottish Government legislation and would like to thank our supporters in advance for their patience, co-operation and understanding.
“Random spot-checks will be carried out by stewards on approach to Celtic Park, in line with this Scottish Government guidance and all supporters attending must be prepared to provide proof of vaccination or exemption.”
Fans will be able to show passport by printing a certificate, showing a digital copy of their status or downloading the NHS Scotland Covid check app.
Supporters who are exempt from a vaccination – such as people under the age of 18, those unable to get the vaccine for medical reasons, fans taking part in vaccine trials or matchday employees and volunteers – must be prepared to provide evidence of this, the statement added.
