Holy smokes City spotted in Bat trailer
ONE of Glasgow’s most iconic landmarks has been spotted in the new trailer for the upcoming blockbuster film The Batman.
The superhero flick, starring Robert Pattison, released a teaser, and Glaswegians will be quick to notice the two bikers in black driving through the historic Necropolis.
It’s the first time the city is in the film, which looks to be a particularly dark take on the superhero franchise. Several scenes are likely to feature in the film as parts of Glasgow were transformed into Gotham City last year.
Back in February 2020, movie fans were delighted to see the Dark Knight roaming near Glasgow Cathedral on a motorbike. Pattison, who will play the lead role of Bruce Wayne, will be joined in a star-studded cast by Zoe Kravitz and Colin Farrell.
The trailer showcases an intense and gritty film, with a brooding Batman taking down bad guys amid high-speed car chases and massive explosions. Farrel, who plays the Penguin in the film, is virtually unrecognisable in his make-up and costume in the trailer. Over the action plays out the ominous words: “Fear is a tool. And when that light hits the sky, it’s not just a call. It’s a warning.”
Kravitz, who plays Catwoman Selina Kyle, makes a dramatic entrance as she is seen highkicking someone in the head.
Her character then asks Batman: “Maybe we’re not so different. Who are you under there?”, to which he replies: “I’m vengeance.”
The film, expected to be released on March 4, 2022, isn’t the only time Batman has made an appearance in the city either.
In July, the caped crusader arrived in Scotland’s biggest city to film The Flash, another DC superhero film.
Meanwhile, Warner Bros, who is distributing the film, is set to bring another movie production to the city.
The move will bring hundreds of jobs to Glasgow and is the first time an entire foreign film will take place in the city.
It came as Glasgow City Council approved a £150,000 Filming Incentive Grant to support an entire major feature film production. However, as we previously reported, this has not been greeted positively by all.
The trailer can be viewed online.
