Music festival makes return after year-long hiatus

-

FESTIVAL-GOERS enjoyed the popular Paisley music festival The Spree again.

After a year of hiatus, the spectacular music and arts event was organised for the ninth time between Thursday to Saturday, October 7 to 16.

Attendees enjoyed shows from The Twilight Sad, Arab Strap, The Bluebells, The Rezillos, Michael Rother, Nick Lowe, Kathryn Joseph and

Retro Video Club.

Taking place at Salon Perdu Spiegeltent, in the town’s Bridge Street, the programmes included concerts, cinema, comedy and kids activities.

Louisa Mahon, head of Marketing, Communications and Events at Renfrewshire Council, said: “It’s been absolutely brilliant to welcome back music-lovers to enjoy their favourite acts and musicians at The Spree once again.

“The event was much-missed last year and festival-goers have turned out in their numbers to be part of the bumper ten-day programme.

“This excitement shows just how much The Spree has grown to become a popular fixture in Scotland’s music festival calendar, attracting great UK and international artists and bringing visitors from across the country to Paisley.”

The Spree for All fringe festival also returned this year, with fantastic gigs in local venues in Renfrew, Houston, Kilbarchan, Bridge of Weir, Howwood and Johnstone

Organisers also prepared programmes for many of Paisley’s hotspots including the Bungalow Bar

Paul Dickson, director of Mill Magazine – which programmed Spree for All 2021 – said: “Renfrewshire has a thriving music scene and it’s been an absolute privilege to place some of the best local talent into great venues.”

Next up on the calendar is Paisley Halloween Festival presents Out of this World.
