MAN CAUGHT WITH 200G OF CANNABIS

-

A MAN was caught in a car whilst in possession of more than 200g of cannabis.

Jordan Murray, 27, was observed by police on Rumford Street in Dalmarnock on February 22, last year.

Officers had carried out checks on the car to find that there was no valid insurance policy in place.

Murray, of Dalmarnock, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing after previously pleading guilty to being in possession of the class B drug and driving with no insurance.

The procurator fiscal depute said: “Officers approached the driver’s seat window and the accused was the only person within. A smell of cannabis was coming from the vehicle. Police detained the accused for a search.

“0.7g of herbal material was found in his trouser pocket, 3.5g at the driver’s seat, 84.8g at the footwell of the car and a further 138.1g was found.

“A total of £275 cash was also recovered. The accused was informed he was under arrest.” The green herbal material later tested positive for cannabis. Murray’s lawyer said: “It was for personal use and supply to friends. He is already on a restriction of liberty order and is still on a community payback order. “He is complying very well. He accepts his guilt. “He’s been keeping out of trouble and doing well at the age of 27, at long last.”

Sheriff Shona Gilroy told Murray: “I will deal with this by imposing a restriction of liberty order which will commence on the conclusion of your current one.”

He was disqualified from driving for six months and ordered to stay within his home address between 7pm-7am for six months.
