Fitzwater insists Parkhead will be new challenge

- DARREN JOHNSTONE

JACK Fitzwater insists Livingston are bracing themselves for a completely different test when they face Celtic this weekend.

The Lions shocked Ange Postecoglou’s side in September at the Tony Macaroni Arena to collect their first Premiership victory of the season in a narrow 1-0 win.

However, with Celtic enjoying a five-game winning run and playing at home tomorrow, defender Fitzwater insists the West Lothian outfit will have to produce a flawless defensive display if they are to take anything from the game.

He said: “It was only a few weeks ago that we beat them so we will know what to expect. But their park is bigger to play on.

“We’ll go there and be hard to beat. We defended really well against Celtic, we defended in numbers and made ourselves hard to beat.

“The game at home against Celtic we had arguably the better chances – we should have been two up by half-time.

“We will take the positives from that game and go there with optimism.”

Livingston can also take confidence from the fact they collected a point against Dundee United on Wednesday despite having to play the second half with ten men following Rangers loanee Ben Williamson’s dismissal.

He added: “I think we have started to perform recently like we did last season when we were hard to beat, gritty in games and we want to make this place difficult to come to and make ourselves hard to beat.

“It was all about us sticking together and getting your mate out of a hole.

“Even though United had a lot of the ball they didn’t create anything. We’ll take Charlie Mulgrew shooting from 40 yards and they had one header.

“It was controlled pressure because we showed them where we wanted to go and we’ll take that onto Celtic Park on Saturday.

“Celtic are good at home, but we have momentum gathering and we’ll be well organised. We’ll see what we can do.”
