Glasgow Times

Introducing our newest columnist around town

- BY LAUREN BROWNLIE

A“LIGHT-HEARTED look at Scottish football” is how Adam Miller describes his well-known Twitter account that is followed by thousands.

The Glasgow man who has made a full-time career out of the opportunities that have stemmed from “Old Firm Facts” is now a columnist for the Glasgow Times.

Adam set up the page “years ago” as he thought it was something to do for “a laugh”, but has now more than 75,000 followers.

He said: “I’m a big football fan and a friend of mine who was on Twitter at the time said ‘you might be good on that’.

“I told a couple of jokes and posted them online to see what happened. With the way Twitter works, people liking and retweeting, the page just grew and grew.”

However, Adam has never revealed his actual name, or whereabouts in the city he is from.

He added: “There’s no real motivation to put my face out there. People tell me not to bother revealing myself because I’ve went this far without.

“I had no idea it would be this big, if I had ambitions right from the start, I would have used my name and face.

“I had no ambitions when I started, I thought it was something to do for a laugh. After a while, the page grew, and it grew quickly, and I managed to change career.”

Adam, who used to work in a call centre, now writes several columns and is the host of the Old Firm Facts podcast. It’s listened to by thousands of people and has had 50 guest appearances from big names in Scottish football, as well as celebrities such as Amy Macdonald.

He said: “During the podcast, there are serious issues discussed in a serious manner as well as the strange world of Scottish football. The most exciting thing for me is having people on that I’ve grown up listening to.”

Despite his love for the sport, Adam’s column for the Glasgow Times will not be football focused.

He said: “My column will generally be non-football stuff, anything that’s in my head that week, some serious topics, anything that I’ve observed. But I will be using the same approach of Old Firm Facts and applying it to this new column.

“I’m looking forward to applying the tone to pop culture, life in Glasgow and whatever’s getting me worked up that week.”

Adam added: “Expect jokes, observations and a few eye-rolls. Hopefully from the writer, not the reader...”
