Fans turned Merchant City into a no-go zone

-

WITH regards to your report in yesterday’s edition on the Celtic title party which led to council staff working through the night to clean up the streets – it breached anti-social behaviour laws never mind the by-laws on drinking in public places as well as the litter laws.

Police Scotland stood and turned a blind eye, yet they closed public parks due to hooliganism but let these drunken thugs take over our Merchant City and with no respect to the tourist and locals going about their daily business.

Fans turned it into a no-go zone and now the taxpayer has to pay to clean up the city of all the broken bottles and flares strewn all over the place.

The council should send Celtic the bill and I think the Chief Constable should be held to account for his actions as to why this town was taken over by louts.

So next time there is any repeat, police should lift the lot.

They shouldn’t be selective and all businesses in the affected area should be compensated for lost revenue. Future title parties should be held inside the respective football club’s ground, not on our streets and placing the public’s safety in danger. Stephen Johnstone

I DON’T know anyone that actually got one due to the process.

Why did they not just give schools a supply of passes? Kelly McMillan

IT needs to stop being so complicated.

Send the passes out. If everyone is entitled, why have to apply. Laura Sneddon

WE got our daughter’s pass. The application was really easy.

It took a while to arrive but can’t fault the process. We were sent a link by her school.

THE online application is a disaster! This is probably why so few have succeeded in applying! Tracey Broadley

IT’S not the claiming it that’s an issue, it’s the whole process. It’s a total nightmare.

My son finally got his and then first time using it, the driver took it off him, saying it had been reported stolen or lost!

FROM what I’ve seen, it’s just neds who have claimed them. Mick McBride

I APPLIED for my nine-year-old son and received it no problem. Donna McFarlane

HAS anyone actually managed to “frame your face” in the oval to scan? Getting a job in MI5 would be easier.
