- BY SARA PACIARONI

FIVE Eintracht Frankfurt ultras have been arrested after reportedly attacking Rangers fans in streets of Seville on Tuesday night, the Spanish police said.

One Rangers supporter was injured as a result of the alleged incident.

In a statement the Policía Nacional confirmed a “massive fight” broke out in front of the Seville Cathedral, near the city’s historic centre.

A video posted to Twitter by a Spanish journalist shows flares being thrown at fans standing outside a bar in the Andalusian capital.

The caption reads: “Again the Eintracht fans messing it up in Seville.

“They have thrown flares and glasses at the Rangers [fans].”

Members of the Unidades de Intervención Policial, a force responsible for public safety, that were stationed nearby, reportedly had to intervene to break up the incident, which was said to have occurred around midnight.

The force said as officers approached, the group of around 200 Eintracht Frankfurt ultras started fleeing the area, attacking the Rangers fans.

It was at this point that the German supporters reportedly started throwing “glasses, flares and tables”.

The police had set up “containment lines” with their vehicles in the area and fired a few salvos, in an attempt to contain the disorders.

The force then arrested four German fans in the vicinity of Paseo de Colón and another German supporter in Puerta de Jerez with the accuse of “public disorder”.

One of the Scottish supporters reportedly received a head injury as a result of the incident, but it is not believed to be serious.
