Glasgow Green to be ‘mainly closed’ for three weeks

- BY REBECCA NEWLANDS

GLASGOW GREEN is to be ‘mainly closed’ for more than three weeks for TRNSMT music festival.

Festival crews will be constructing a fence line in the Green ahead of building stages for live performances from June 20, and this is expected to be finished by June 22. However, according to an information leaflet shared by a Glasgow Green community group, access to certain parts of the Green will be “restricted” from June 20 until July 15.

This has been decided “for safety reasons and in line with construction regulations”.

To allow members of the public to still use the Green, a section by the east entrance will be open throughout.

A small space by the west entrance will be open to dog walkers from June 20 to July 3 and then again from July 12 to 15.

It will not be accessible on July 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11.

The area by the People’s Palace is open from June 20 to July 4, and again from July 11 to 15. Access to the Doulton Fountain is limited on July 3, 4, 6, 7, 11 and 12, and it will be completely inaccessible on July 5, 8, 9 and 10.

The core path running from the west entrance along the River Clyde will be closed on June 30, July 1, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 13.

A dedicated phone line has also been set up by DF Concerts for local residents to voice any queries or issues.

Locals can call 0141 280 9331 or email glasgowgreenlocal@ dfconcerts.co.uk.
