Share your memories of growing up in city

- BY ANN FOTHERINGHAM

DID you take a trip on a Glasgow tram, or enjoy an afternoon at the pictures?

Can you remember street games, the grand old dance halls, the steamies, and our longlost pubs?

Our I Grew Up in Glasgow column is the perfect way to share your memories of living and working in the city over the decades.

All you have to do is answer the following questions and send them, along with any old photos of yourself

(and a recent one) to ann.fotheringham@ glasgowtimes.co.uk

What is your earliest memory of Glasgow?

What was your childhood like, and where did you grow up?

Which street did you live on? Describe your house – was it a single end, or a room and kitchen? Did you live in a tenement, or were you “posh” with your own garden? Who lived there with you – parents, siblings, grandparents?

What school did you go to? What are your schoolday memories – were they the happiest days of your life? We’d love to

hear about your favourite subjects and teachers. What did you make of school dinners?

Did you enjoy going to the pictures? What was your favourite local cinema and why? Some were fleapits, others a little more grand – we’d love to hear which ones you remember.

What was your favourite local shop? Did you stay local, or did you make the trip into the big city and its majestic department stores?

Where did you go dancing, when you were a bit older? Who did you go with?

Many readers have shared their favourite moments in a lifetime spent living, working and playing in the city.

We would love to know what you think the best thing about growing up in Glasgow was?

Are you still living in the city or have you ventured to further-flung shores?

And finally, what is your happiest childhood memory?
