Cafe announces closure after ‘two difficult years’

-

A POPULAR Italian cafe in the city’s West End has announced its closure.

Caffe da Sara, located on Queen Margaret Drive, will serve its last customers on Sunday.

In an emotional Facebook post, owner Sara said it was a difficult decision but she needed to prioritise her family.

The post read: “After long ponderation, moments of doubts and sadness, I have made a very hard decision ... it’s not a decision taken lightly as many of you probably know.

“I am sorry to tell you guys that Caffe da Sara is closing.

“I feel it’s time for me to go on to my next adventure ... whatever that might be.

“For the time being, I am going to spend some time with my family to recharge the batteries after two very long hard years, for the business and for myself.

“You all supported my business and especially me every step of the way and I couldn’t be more grateful to have met each and every one of you.

“Lots of memories built in this cafe, in this community that welcomed me with open arms from the first day that I arrived, a very young, inexperienced girl with very little English.

“I will still be in Glasgow so I am sure our roads will cross again.

“Please make sure you do pop in this week to say bye. “Thank you for everything!” Customers were heartbroken but supportive in the comments.

One person said: “Best of luck with whatever life throws your way next Sara.”

Another posted: “So sad to hear that but sometimes we have to take difficult steps and make hard decisions!

“All the best to you Sara! You deserve it.”

A third comment read: “Very sad to read this – Queen Margaret Drive won’t be the same without you and I’ll really miss your wonderful ciabattas, pastries and coffee.

“However, I’m sure it’s been a very tough couple of years, wanting a change is understandable and wish you all the success in whatever is next!”
