Poverty is the cause of many health issues
WELL done to Dr Peter Cawston, the GP who is based in Drumchapel Health Centre, for highlighting the plight of citizens in our community who are living in acute poverty and as a consequence suffer from multiple health problems which continue to be a major obstacle for people to lead a fulfilled, equal and happy life.
Poverty robs us of this and in my opinion causes many more health and social problems which cost billions of pounds to attempt to address, yet these issues are worse than ever and will probably get worse as we all get hammered with the cost-of-living crisis.
There is no doubt Dr Cawston is correct in his analysis that Glasgow’s most deprived areas are not funded equally, therefore the Scottish Government must recognise this and base resources and funding on proven need.

I HAVE just read the article about independence and Nicola Sturgeon is once again preaching to the public.
What I would like to know is where will all the finance come from as Scotland has no value of anything as we don’t own the whisky distilleries; only have half of the oil if any, as Iceland, I believe, owns a portion of it because when the North Sea oil boom started they got half of it and got wise, they put the revenue into another account and left it and now they are richer than Scotland; only shipyard on the Clyde now is Henderson, what a drop from when it use to be, as there was Cartsburn shipyard, where myself and my father worked, then Lithgows at Port Glasgow, Yarrows which is now BAE; we don’t own any ports on the Clyde and we don’t own airports, so where will the finance come from or will it be through the back door cap in hand?

I WOULD love to watch FMQs but get bored very quickly with the opposition parties repeatedly asking the exact same question multiple times in different forms.
They should realise that this is their opportunity in front of their constituents to actually impress and deal with major Scottish issues, not play silly blame games.
Please stop wasting your constituents valuable time and get on with utilising your own chance to impress voters and maximise your constituents’ real issues they want answers to.

I WOULD like to thank you for printing some of my letters in your paper. It gets it off my chest.
But one thing about the energy market I cannot get my head round, I stay within three or four miles of one of the biggest wind farms in Europe.
There has been no real increase in their production costs as far as I can see.
So, who is bypassing my house putting it on the global market and selling it back to me at a disgusting profit? All we get as an explanation is that is the market price, does anybody know who sets these prices???
