A SUMMER arts programme is set to launch in Linwood and Johnstone for free.

Youth arts charity, CREATE Paisley, is kicking off Go CREATE, which is an exciting new programme where young people will have the opportunity to experience creativity outdoors.

It comes as part of funding from the National Lottery Awards for All, Children in Need and donations from local individuals and businesses.

Places are limited for the programme which will run every Thursday from July 7 for six weeks.

Young people can register for as few or as many activity days as they like.

Celia Maclean, CREATE’s fundraising and marketing manager, said: “CREATE Paisley is delighted to be able to offer a fantastic free summer of creative fun for young people in Linwood and Johnstone. “We have a selection of activity days including trips to Lapwing Lodge and Largs and creative activities from circus skills to ceramics.

“We will also be launching weekly CREATE Cafe drop-in sessions for the first time in Johnstone at Station 7 in partnership with Active Communities. “These will be based on successful cafes in Paisley and will be held weekly on Thursday evenings 6pm to 8pm throughout the summer. “All activities are free and open to everyone aged 12 to 18.”

CREATE’s youth development worker, Nicola Ferguson, added: “I would encourage young people in the Linwood and Johnstone communities to sign up for a summer of fun with us.

“Our youth work team can’t wait to Go CREATE this summer. “You can join with friends or come along and make new ones.” To sign up, visit createpaisley. org.uk/go
