River City cast address criticism

- BY LAUREN BROWNLIE

RIVER City stars have responded to criticism about their acting in the soap in typical Glasgow style.

Stephen Purdon cheekily said “who you talking tae” as he replied to a bold comment made by someone on TikTok.

After the Pavilion Theatre revealed the line- up for this year’s pantomime Aladdin, someone replied: “Hope their panto is better acting than

River City. R. City is a pure riddy these days.”

But Purdon refused to let the comment go and took to the video app to respond.

He said: “Hello. This is a message for whoever sent in the comment saying I hope the acting is better in the panto than wit it is in River City. Who you talkin tae?”

The famous Shellsuit Bob actor turned to his River City co- star Scott Fletcher and said “eh, hear this yin?”

Fletcher jokingly replied “I hope it’s better anawl to be honest”, before Grado chipped in and said, “it is better”.

Purdon then turned the camera towards Grado, and quipped: “That’s when the acting wisnae that great in River City”.

He finished off by sarcastically thanking the TikTok user for their comment: “Right. Cheers pal”.

Purdon is best known for playing the BBC Soap’s longest- running character, meanwhile, Fletcher plays Angus Lindsay.

Wrestler Grado, whose real name is Graeme Stevely, previously starred as Buster and currently plays roles in comedies Scot Squad and Two Doors Down.

The trio have been entertaining audiences at the Pavilion since the pantomime launched on December 1.

Scott Fletcher plays Aladdin, Stephen Purdon plays Ping, meanwhile, Grado plays Pong.
