THE owners of a fire- hit restaurant have shared their excitement at being able to reveal their plans for 2023. Much- loved Trattoria Guidi in Airdrie, better known as Guidis, was devastated by a huge blaze in August 2021.

More than a year on, bosses say they are progressing with their plans for the Italian restaurant.

Their first social media post since last Christmas reads: “We are so excited to have news! First of all – we must thank our Guidis community.

“Your words of support have been a constant source of encouragement to us as we work away behind the scenes.

“We have had so many messages over the past 15 months from many of you checking in to see what our plans are and when you can expect Guidis back in action!

“So we are really excited to be able to finally share our progress... stay tuned over the next week for more information for what is to come for Guidis in 2023!”

Last year, we reported that devastating photos showed the aftermath of the severe blaze at the “Airdrie institution”.

Fire crews were called to Rochsolloch Road at 12.50am on August 11.

The owners shared their heartbreak at the time by writing: “We are devastated and slowly trying to process what has happened. The most important thing is that no one was in at the time and so all of our staff are safe.”

Meanwhile, hundreds of local politicians, residents, and businesses also shared their heartbreak.

At the time, councillor Paul Di Mascio said: “Devastating news about Guidis fire overnight, glad everyone was okay and nobody was hurt.

“So many happy memories with family here over the decades as will so many others. Praying you get through this awful event and come back stronger in due course.”

Bosses thanked the community for the overwhelming support in the days following the fire.

They wrote: “Carlo would like to sincerely thank everyone for their kind messages, calls and offers of support since the fire.

“We have been truly overwhelmed by the enormous level of support and have really appreciated reading everyone’s messages.

“There have been amazing offers of temporary venues, employment opportunities for staff and one very kind customer has set up a GoFundMe page ( the proceeds from which will go to our staff).

“Thank you all, we are extremely grateful.”
