Don’t forget your phone or hoover this Christmas

-

YOUR Secret Glasgow Taxi Driver has a few things to share this week so, seat belt on and let’s get started.

And the only place to start is to say a huge congratulations to Stacey Mullen, who has been named new editor of the Glasgow Times.

Mair power tae yer pen, Stacey.

The Glasgow Times also deserve a wee nod for their Bank On Us campaign to help others in need this festive period – and Glasgow Taxis are stepping up as well, sharing £ 1500 with three community groups this Christmas.

Since launching our ‘ Fare Share’ festive campaign back in 2019, we have been able to provide help and raise awareness of some of the great community projects happening around the city.

This year the three charities we will share the £ 1500 fund with are Geeza Break, Well- Fed Scotland CIC and Ubuntu Women Shelter.

If one of those causes means something to you, please vote for them via the Glasgow Taxis Facebook page by midnight tonight.

In other news, I spotted in today’s Glasgow Times an article about all the many things which have been left behind in cabs this year – including a Henry Hoover ( See Page 17)!

There’s a serious side to that funny image, as every year we return – either directly to customers, or to police if that’s not possible – thousands and thousands of items.

Phones, keys, iPads, jackets, vapes and even Henry, that’s a lot of returning.

We’d much rather you didn’t forget in the first place, so please please please, when using a taxi this December especially, make sure you check the seats before you head off.

And finally, remember the advice shared last week, that at weekends when the city is especially busy, head to a marshalled rank and we’ll get you home as quickly as we can.

The glass half empty view is sometimes all about waiting supposed “ages” on a cab.

However if I can just top up that glass for you, remember that every weekend this party season our drivers will make sure literally tens of thousands of people will get home safely after nights out.

So Henry Hoover might not make it up the road first time – but once we pick you up we will make sure you do.

Stay safe!

( And keep cosy – brrrrrr!).
