Thugs involved in city fight with machete and baseball bats sent to jail

-

TWO thugs who brandished weapons and smashed car windows in a daylight street fight have been jailed for a total of 30 months.

Andrew Mercer, 25, Craig Reynolds, 31, were involved in the melee in Glasgow’s Cardonald on June 5, 2020.

Lisa Wallace, 34, Malcolm White, 29, and now deceased Kevin Jamieson, 36, also took part.

The city’s sheriff court heard Mercer and Reynolds showed up at the property around noon in a car shortly followed by White and Jamieson in another vehicle.

All four exited their vehicles at separate times and were joined by Wallace.

Prosecutor Mark Allan said: “They conducted themselves in a disorderly manner through the developing disturbance.

“They were shouting and swearing at each other, brandishing weapons including baseball bats.

“There was a standoff situation.

“This can be broadly described as them engaging in a stand- up fight and breaching the peace.”

CCTV was shown to the court of the incident in which car windows were seen to be smashed by the baseball bats.

Jamieson was seen to be carrying a machete while others exchanged possession of baseball bats.

A young baby and two adults unconnected to the incident were seen walking through the trouble.

All involved were later traced and arrested.

Mercer, Reynolds, Wallace and White pleaded guilty to conducting themselves in a disorderly manner.

It was revealed that the crime was Mercer’s third sheriff and jury conviction while it was Reynold’s fifth.

The pair, of London, and Glasgow’s Penilee were jailed for 15 months each.

Wallace and White of Cardonald were put under supervision for 12 months.
