Line of Duty may return for ‘ sensational conclusion’

-

HIT BBC drama Line of Duty could soon return to our screens with a ‘ sensational conclusion’ for the AC- 12 team following widespread disappointment from fans after last year’s series finale.

The Glasgow Times previously reported that readers had been left unsatisfied with the final episode of the police drama which saw the identity of criminal mastermind “H” uncovered after nine years of twists and turns.

Now, according to reports, a TV insider has revealed that the show, created by Jed Mercurio, will be back for three more episodes as part of a BBC1 special as early as next Christmas.

They said: “There was a very strong feeling, particularly among fans, that there was unfinished business with Line of Duty.

“Viewers weren’t satisfied with the ending of series six and were crying out for a more sensational conclusion.

“Now Jed can deliver that.” Speculating as to a potential storyline the source continued: “The question is whether the person we were led to believe was H really is the villain that AC- 12 has been hunting or if it was another nemesis.

“There’s also a theory another, darker puppet master is at work.

“The fact that they’re looking at taking the unusual step of making three episodes rather than the usual six or seven is a reflection of just how special this is for the show.”

The show’s stars including Greenock- born Martin Compston, Adrian Dunbar and Vicky McClure have added fuel to the rumours by stating that they would love to revisit their roles if work schedules allow.
