How much would I have to pay to drive to hospital?

- L Cameron Auchinairn

HOW much would the congestion charge need to be to raise to meet the council’s budget shortfall? I’m interested as I live just outside the city boundary and while he is at it and while he has the back of his envelope handy – could he also tell me how much it would cost me to visit my ill partner at the QEUH?

I JUST had to smile at some of the comments by a few readers on the proposed introduction of a Congestion Charge within Glasgow city centre.

You would think this idea had just been raised for the first time. London, Birmingham, Bath already have the charge with others like Manchester, Newcastle, Cardiff, Bristol and Aberdeen and Dundee also looking into the possibility of its introduction.

They are being introduced to help cities reduce massive congestion, dangerous emissions and to ensure a clean environment for everyone.

Comments like ‘ It’s all the SNP’s fault’ ( well, isn’t everything) and

‘ I will not pay it’ you would expect to hear from school children, not adults concerned about the future. KM

I NOTE John Swinney’s Budget announcement diverting

£ 20 million all of sudden to help citizens in fuel poverty instead of the referendum.

Why aren’t councillors or politicians not asking why fuel poverty ( where people and families live in cold homes) was not a priority in the first place?

I VISITED Kilmarnock town centre with my family and note they welcome visitors by giving free parking at the weekend.

However, Glasgow is totally different where you need to pay a ridiculous amount of charges to park to visit one of the city’s Crown Jewels in respect of George square to see the Christmas lights.

It is already hard for families with the cost of living.

THANK you to First Bus for ensuring my journey home every day after work this month has been so memorable.

I stand at Buchanan Bus Station every day and enjoy the excitement of waiting to see if the No87 will actually decide to turn up.

Along with the disappearing buses, some of the sights you see if you get to board a bus are magical. People certainly make Glasgow!
