TWO t e e n a g e r s ambushed a man a n d l e f t h i m unconscious for 15 minutes. Ali Qamar, 18, a 17- yearold boy and other youths pounced on Marian Tamas outside Glasgow Central station on August 12, 2021.

The victim was brought to the ground where his head and upper body was stamped upon at least 40 times as he lay motionless.

One of the attackers rifled through Mr Tamas’ pockets before Qamar and the 17- year- old fled the scene.

The pair pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting Mr Tamas to his injury and danger of life.

The court heard Mr Tamas and Marius Constantin were outside the Hope Street entrance to the station around 2.30am. Horror CCTV played to the court showed the gang of youths nearby.

Qamar punched Mr Tamas to the head which caused him to fall to the ground.

An unnamed youth then kicked him to the head and body while Mr Tamas was on the ground.

Another unnamed youth repeatedly kicked the victim before Qamar also struck repeated blows with his feet.

One of the youths was seen to frisk Mr Tamas and take his belongings. Prosecutor Hannah Sweeney said: “Mr Tamas had now become unconscious on the ground.

“Both the 17- year- old and Qamar punched him before the teen kicked him to the head. He then ran and jumped on his head violently, repeatedly kicking him.”

The two were seen to flee the scene and were later traced separately by police in the city centre.

Mr Tamas was then taken to hospital and fortunately escaped with minor injuries.

The court heard of other incidents involving the pair between June and September 2021. The 17- year- old hurled threats and punched a Lidl employee after being told to wear a face mask.

He also hit a shop employee with a crowbar to the forehead after he was refused cigarettes.

The teen produced a knife during an incident before threatening to stab one of the workers. He then pointed the blade to the worker’s neck however the teen was eventually overpowered and the knife thrown away.

Qamar was also involved in the fight meantime and pleaded guilty to assaulting an employee to his injury.

The 17- year- old separately admitted numerous charges of assault and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner. Sentence was deferred pending background reports until the end of the month by Sheriff Gerard Bonnar.

Qamar, of the city’s Kelvinside, and the 17- year- old were remanded in custody.
